I assume your first sentence was a typo and you meant to say "you CAN'T just buy a copy of Leopard..." This is no different to any other Mac model, to restore the bundled software any time you want to reinstall everything from scratch, even if you are installing a later version of Mac OS X from a retail DVD.

If you look at an OS X Mac (there is nothing later than OS X, and it might not have the same structure when it comes out in any case), So anyway: in the absence of anything to manage such installations, I'm not going to mess things up by installing command line software that I can live without.
